The UKFIU report that 2025-26 had the highest ever level of criminal assets denied through the Defence Against Money Laundering (DAML) regime: £422.3m. Over £1bn of criminal assets has been denied over the last three years which reflects improved quality of information received from SARs reporters, increased use of asset recovery tools by law enforcement partners, and key changes to legislation.

The changes to DAML thresholds in July 2025 have enabled a year-on year decrease of 23% in the total number of DAMLs received, a 20% increase in the numbers of DAMLs refused to enable law enforcement action, and a 15% increase in value of funds denied – an extra £58m.

The UKFIU report that they have undertaken significant work this year to enhance the UKFIU’s ability to support international partners through the timely and effective sharing of financial intelligence focused on tackling economic crime and wider cross-border threats.
